BURKE'S HASELTINE COTTAGE #7
RENTER'S TESTIMONIAL

September 2009

Carol,

Karl and I had a lovely stay at the Burke's cottage last week on Green Lake! Bob and Prue are two of the nicest people and were very welcoming. All the windows in the cottage were open upon our arrival and soft music was playing to make it extra special. In the kitchen they gave us a gift of wine, cheese, and apples to welcome us even more into their home.

On our second day they invited us for a pontoon ride around the lake in which Bob shared the history and highlighted points of interest. He also helped us with our first Kayak experience by providing us tips on getting in without falling into the water! The cottage itself was amazing and just what we pictured...so the pictures on the website were great! The landscaping that Prue has done with the plants and flowers add such character to what already is a simply charming place! We had plenty of firewood available for use, a nice Weber grill which we didn't use but it was there for us, the kitchen had brand new stove and fridge, and the microwave worked great! They provided various pans and dishes for cooking as well as utensils, so one doesn't need to bring too much from home when staying here!

Having the kitchen in a separate building was different at first, but after a couple days became second nature and didn't disturb Karl when I was cooking (so if someone needs to cook in the morning when others are sleeping this is great!). The back screened in patio was one of my favorite spots. We enjoyed breakfast out there and sat on the swing to view the lake or read a book. Pillows and a quilt on the swing made it comfy and warm on the cool mornings! The outside patio area was perfect for some mid-day sun if you didn't want to go down to the dock, which got full sun around noon and rest of day and was the perfect spot for the beautiful sunsets! The lounge chairs on the dock were great and I enjoyed reading my book down there or watching Karl fish off the dock. We didn't have much luck catching fish but had fun trying!

The road the cottage is located off of is a great road for a walk and is not very highly traveled. The wooded area was beautiful from the road and you could see the lake from there too. We loved downtown Green Lake and enjoyed food at Goose Blind, Adam's Ribs, and Bayview Ice Cream Parlor. Prue recommended Reiley's Pub for Friday Fish Fry and we loved it, as well as Bob recommended Norton's for dinner which we thought was an excellent pick! They weren't downtown but were a short drive from cottage and provided us a different view of the lake.

It was fabulous and everything we wanted for our rustic getaway! This rental is one you should highly recommend because of the charming cottage and the very, very friendly owners! We would love to visit the cottage again in a future trip!

Sincerely,
Michelle Smith
